New Restaurant Discovery: Rancho Nando

This past weekend was a busy one for my family. We went out to celebrate my sister-in-law’s 70th birthday at a local Colombian restaurant.

It was an experience I won’t soon forget.

Rancho Nando

We went to a place called Rancho Nando in Pembroke Pines. It is half Colombian steakhouse half nightclub.

Dinner started late, around 9:00 PM, so the food didn’t even arrive until 10:00 PM. I ordered the Carne a la Llanera, which means meat of the plains. It was a very flavorful steak and a great meal.

The Atmosphere

The environment was a bit crazy. There was a live performer wearing a cowboy hat and big chops singing in Spanish. Reminded me of the guy from “my name is jeff” scene in 22 Jumpstreet.

Everyone was dancing and having a great time. Even my wife’s mother, who is almost 90, was out there enjoying the music. It was a very loud and lively crowd.

Moments like these remind me of the magic of gathering together. I wrote more about this in The Real Magic of Holiday Parties.

Conclusion

We didn’t get home until 1:30 in the morning, which is much later than I stayed up on New Year’s Eve. It was a long night but a fun celebration for a 70th birthday.

Family gatherings are always full of surprises. It was great to see everyone having such a good time together.
