Ambassador Work and Fresh Pineapples

April has been a good mix of community work and quiet time at home. I got to speak at a recent chamber event, and the garden is starting to pay me back for the work I put in earlier this year.

Ambassador Event

I am a member of the Ambassador Committee with the Palm Beach North Chamber of Commerce. The committee hosted an event for new and prospective chamber members to learn more about what joining is all about and why it can be a beneficial thing for your business.

For the event, we split up different aspects of chamber membership into categories. Attendees rotated between three groups. I spoke about the committees and councils of the chamber, and about advocacy. Beyond Networking

When people think about the chamber, they think about networking events and growing their business through meeting other businesses and building relationships and leads. That is all true, and it is all great. But there are less tangible aspects of chamber membership that people do not always think about.

One of those is the way the chamber advocates for our local community, both in Tallahassee and here at home. The chamber speaks to the government about issues that matter to us, like the cost of home ownership and the cost of insurance. When I am trying to recruit people to move to this community and they cannot find a home, it does not make any sense. Advocacy is how we address those bigger problems.

Why It Matters

Being an ambassador is very meaningful for me. Being a part of the chamber has brought a lot of attention, exposure, and benefit to my business. Serving as an ambassador is a way to help bring other people along into that same experience.

Previously, the chamber hosted a CEO connection event and a Power networking event, also featured in these photos.

Garden Update

Back at home, my pineapples are looking great. The sheds in the background do not! There is something really satisfying about walking outside and seeing plants actually producing. A small reward for the time I spent earlier in the season.

Conclusion

It has been a full month of showing up. I got to give back to the community that has given so much to my business, and I got a bit of time with my hands in the dirt at home. Both feel good.

Check back soon for more updates on the garden, the business, and everything in between.
