A Reminder About Time

This month has been heavy.

My Dad suffered a health scare. He’s on the other side of it now, and thankfully there aren’t any long-term consequences. But it rattled me in a way I wasn’t expecting.

Then, just as I was processing that, I got word about a friend of mine. His wife had been sick, and suddenly she suffered a medical crisis. She was taken off life support. Harrowing doesn’t even begin to cover it.

Tomorrow

After it happened, my friend sent me a text. The last line stopped me cold:

Take care of each other and your loved ones.

I must have read it three times. Here was a man dealing with the most intensely personal tragedy imaginable, and his thoughts were still on other people. Still reaching out. Still caring.

It snapped me to attention in a way few things have.

Two things hit me all at once. First, the selflessness it takes to think of others in a moment like that. Second, how quickly it can all evaporate. One day you’re planning your week, and the next, everything changes.

I was looking for photos for this blog the other day, and I came across so many faces that aren’t here anymore. Grandparents. Friends. Pets. Each one a reminder that tomorrow isn’t promised to any of us.

What Really Matters

These experiences don’t just stay tucked away in my personal life. They seep into everything I do, especially my work as a recruiter.

My mission with SalesBountyHunter is to help people find their next chapter. Whether that’s a job with better work-life balance or an opportunity that lets someone provide more for their family, it’s all connected to this same truth: life is about more than a paycheck. It’s about building a life you love with the people you care about.

I spend so much time bogged down with the minutiae—this task, that decision, this never-ending to-do list. But what’s really important? The connections we all share.

It’s a powerful lesson in perspective. We can get so caught up in the day-to-day grind that we forget to step back and appreciate what we have.

This perspective shapes everything I do as a recruiter. I explore this more in 80 Candidates and Counting.

So I hope this story serves as a gentle reminder to you as well.

Feel lucky every day. Take care of each other. And enjoy the time you have with your loved ones.
